Brief Biographical Sketch:

Originally from Chicago, Lexi graduated from Princeton University. She focuses on American art history, visual culture, and issues of gender and sexuality, especially re-examining our understanding of modern American art using contemporary feminist and queer theory. Having worked at the Princeton Art Museum, the Whitney Museum, and the Terra Foundation for American Art, Lexi is particularly interested in how the public interacts with works of art and how museums will meet the demands of the 21st century visitor.

H5549: How to Look at Art in Splash Spring 2017 (Apr. 22 - 23, 2017)
Are museums stuffy and boring or are they filled with lively artworks that teach us about history and being alive? We vote the latter! This class, co-taught by two art historians, will engage art and artifacts at the Cantor Museum and ask questions such as: Why is art important? What can art tell us about the past, the present and ourselves? This class will offer an introduction to the methods of art history and model how to use these skills to more creatively and critically engage our visual world.
