Brief Biographical Sketch:

Julia is a sophomore at Stanford from New Orleans, Louisiana. Julia volunteered as a junior zoo keeper at Audubon Zoo for five years where she developed her passion for conservation. At Stanford, Julia serves as a docent at the Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve, providing field-based education to community members, and as an operator for the Codiga Resource Recovery Center, aiding research on replacing aging wastewater infrastructure. She is excited to continue exploring environmental education as the Education Projects Coordinator this year, with goals to engage underrepresented minorities and students of all academic disciplines in sustainability. Julia plans to major in Chemical Engineering with a focus on coastal ecosystems with the aim to one day find a career in wetlands restoration and remediation. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, golfing, and writing.

R7426: Environmental Policy: Solving the Climate Crisis in Splash Fall 2019 (Nov. 16 - 17, 2019)
Join the Students for a Sustainable Stanford in solving the climate crisis through environmental policy. Through a town hall-style activity, we'll learn why developing effective environmental policy is so challenging. Students will play the roles of different stakeholders, ranging from community members to leaders of environmental NGOs, and argue for their stake on policy, and in the end, we'll decide on a policy that just might save our planet.


R6794: Designing a Sustainable Life in Splash Fall 2018 (Dec. 01 - 02, 2018)
From personal choices to hobbies, diet to activism, from housing to commuting and travel, the choices we make everyday impact our environment. What does it mean to live sustainably, and how do we balance sustainable choices with satisfying ones? Through games and discussion, this class aims at exploring what choices we can make that help us achieve our own personal balances between sustainability and comfort.
