Brief Biographical Sketch:

Born in Avon, CT, went to college at Brown University where I concentrated in biophysics, and now a fifth-year MD/PhD student at Stanford. I've also worked on a farm for a year.
Hope you come to the class! Feel free to read up ahead of time, and bring lots of questions, even "dumb" ones, especially "dumb" ones. You never know which questions will be important.

Medical students will take you through a tour of human anatomy. Note: students will learn with human cadavers, people who have died and donated their bodies to be studied by medical students. Students who are squeamish or uncomfortable around dead bodies should not enroll in this class.

Ever feel your heart beat? Ever wonder what it's doing? Two Stanford meddical students will show you what it all means and how to use a stethoscope. Students will have the opportunity to listen and feel pulses on each other.

How Come We Haven't Made an HIV Vaccine Yet? This course will describe the fundamentals of vaccine science and HIV biology, and describe some of the reasons why we as a scientific community and as a society have not been able to come up with a vaccine that can prevent HIV transmission.
