Brief Biographical Sketch:

Pablo graduated from Stanford University in June of 2009 with a degree in Geological and Environmental Sciences and is currently working on his PhD. His research and academic interests include the geology of China and California, ultrahigh pressure metamorphism, carbon dioxide mineral sequestation, and the study of serpentinites and magnesite ores in California. He is also interested in environmental problems, conservation, and the increase of science in the public education system. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French. He used to play polo, but now swims avidly, loves squash and jumpstyle, and drinks copious amounts of coffee.

S819: Conversations in French in Splash! Spring 2010 (Apr. 17 - 18, 2010)
Let's speak some French! Join me in a French conversation class where we will interact as if we were in a French-speaking classroom. We will sing in French, practice pronunciation and intonation, and even make jokes in French. Class includes film, musical and poetry appreciation and activities. Previous knowledge of French, at least basic, is required.

P821: Jumpstyle in Splash! Spring 2010 (Apr. 17 - 18, 2010)
Jumpstyle is a dance practiced mainly in northern France, Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany. It is basically the art of jumping. Search online jumpstyle and get a glimpse of what we'll do in class. No experience necessary. At the end we will put together a short choreography.Bring water.


S464: Rocks, Volcanoes and Earthquakes in Splash! Fall 2009 (Oct. 10 - 11, 2009)
We are in California, one of the most exciting places to study and see amazing geology. We will learn about the geology of the place we live in, how rocks form, how mountains, lakes and oceans take shape, and figure out why earthquakes occur. Session will include basic earthquake safety, short field-trip to the Mineral Exhibit at Branner Library and a hands-on examination of rocks and minerals.
