Brief Biographical Sketch:

Parents should feel free to converse with me too! But never force ur kids to attend my class, I will be quite saddened, and I love that I have not had unhappy kids in the class. This is a beginner 101 class for programming. We will introduce programming, computer science, and web development fundamentals (key knowledge and concepts) to students with ZERO background.
Please AVOID this class if you have programmed in any manner before. This is a visual, hands-on class ideal for students who are visual learners, artistic, and who may have otherwise be intimidated by math, computer science and engineering in general. This class will introduce important concepts using fun activities and easy-to-understand illustrations.
No need to bring your own computer. We will move around the room demonstrating key concepts. Class time is limited, setting up computer environment will be out of scope.
If you think you can never learn Computer Science, and really dislike math and engineering. This class may change your view forever.
S1755: Thinking like an Economist in Splash! Fall 2011 (Oct. 29 - 30, 2011)
Ever heard of the book Freaknomics? This popular book teaches people how to think like an economist, thinking about business and every day issues with a twist, and understand it from a brand new angle. In this class, we look at Apple commercials, read Wall Street Journal and Mashable front pages and analyze the news and discussions around current events. Of course, we use calculations and case studies as well. Math is an economist's friend so be prepared to do some exercises early in the morning
S920: A Business Mind: finance, investment, consulting - exercise your brain with business puzzles in Splash! Spring 2010 (Apr. 17 - 18, 2010)
In this interactive class, I will walk the students through several brain exercises / business cases to teach them important principles of finance, investing, and strategic thinking.
The class is designed to be fun and interactive. A limited amount of math exercises will be introduced. We focus more on the thinking side.
Special modules may include: tips for reading the Wall Street Journal, stock market fundamentals, a consulting style case walk-through.
S921: A Business Mind (for 8th graders or younger): exercise your brain with business puzzles in Splash! Spring 2010 (Apr. 17 - 18, 2010)

BizG 1.0-Finance
For students who are interested in business / finance / accounting / investment, this is a basic introductory class for you to explore the tools and course works in these fields before you consider the career track. In this class we will cover principles of financial analyses and some of the great learning tools, such as the Wall Street Journal. The class is most suitable for high school students with NO background in financial analyses.
At least 3 FREE copies of the Wall Street Journal will be distributed and used for the purpose of this class.
You will enjoy this class if you are interested in learning **practical** and technical business skills, and the business career track.
S530: BizG: What is consulting? (with a practice case study) in Splash! Fall 2009 (Oct. 10 - 11, 2009)

This is an interactive session. Students are encouraged to actively participate to get the most out of the session, but it is OK to observe silently.
What is consulting and life as a consultant (those people who work in McKinsey and Boston Consulting Group)? Come learn about the consulting career track and practice a case study. Case studies are good ways to learn about logical business thinking and decision making. Some interview skills will also be covered.
You will enjoy this class if you are interested in learning **practical** and technical business skills, and the business career track.
S635: "Biz-Game" (for Gr7 & 8) in Splash! Fall 2009 (Oct. 10 - 11, 2009)
BizG 1.0- Business for 8th graders and below
Note: This is an interactive session. Students are encouraged to actively participate to get the most out of the session, but it is OK to observe silently.
This is a business game / case workshop designed to help 7th & 8th graders who are interested in general business to start think about business problems, issues in a logical, analytical manner. The format will be interactive and informal. I will introduce a few simple frameworks and then introduce a couple of business problems, walk the students through thinking exercises.
This is a modified version of the course I taught last spring: Introduction to Basic Finance and Financial Accounting. Of the 60 students who attended the class, two thirds had yet to attend high school, but this group of curious and intelligent students really impressed me and gave me the best Splash experience. This class is now tailored to non-high school students with less math but more interactive brain exercises.
S224: Introduction to Basic Finance and Financial Accounting in Splash! Spring 2009 (Apr. 04 - 05, 2009)
Think you might be interested in finance? Want to know where to kick start your career in finance, applied economics and general business? In this basic, introductory course, I will give you an overview of tools and resources that you may use to evaluate your future finance-related career track and show you how to prepare for what is to come. I will also teach you how to read and analyze information from publications such as The Wall Street Journal and Yahoo! Finance.
(If enough students bring their laptops with Microsoft Excel to class, I will teach them basic excel commands, and design group projects that give them hands-on experiences.)
This is a very basic course, students with low or no finance background are preferred. Students with economics background are welcome
