Brief Biographical Sketch:
Kevin Arnold has published five books of poetry and a novel. Serving as President, Poetry Center San Jose from 2001-2013, he earned his MFA from San Jose State University in 2007 and was a founder and has taught annually at Gold Rush Writers for twelve years. The San Francisco / Peninsula California Writer's Club named him Writer of the Year for 2014-2015. He'll teach from his latest book, Everyday Villanelles. This class will immerse students in the diverse world of writing, demonstrating the myriad forms it can take and the specific intricacies of one poetry form, the villanelle.
The class will be interactive. The first half will explore the diversity of writing, from informal notes to series of novels. The second half will be dedicated to a specific form of the villanelle, 19 lines, with a specific pattern of repetition and rhyme.

This is an entry-level class to give students an opportunity to share their work with others and gain valuable feedback. Students are expected to bring in one page that they've written that they can share with the class. The page can be fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or journalism.

This is an entry-level class to give students an opportunity to share their work with others and gain valuable feedback. Students are expected to bring in one page that they've written that they can share with the class. The page can be fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or journalism.

Young writers are often puzzled what type of writing best suits their individual talents. Fiction, poetry, non-fiction, blogging? This class represents an opportunity to explore your writing voice.
Please bring something you've written, no more than 150 words, that you can share with the class. Copies for the others to mark up are optional--if you bring them, please bring 7 copies
In order to spend adequate time with each young writer, this class is limited to seven students.
R4169: Advanced High School Critique Group in Splash Spring 2015 (Apr. 11 - 12, 2015)
This class is for high school students who have self-identified themselves as writers by writing or editing for their school newspaper or yearbooks or other creative activities such as writing a scene for the drama department.
Please bring something you've written--not necessarily published, but something that moves toward the kind of writing you want to do. After an in-depth discussion of what kinds of criticisms work best, we will open the group up for discussion of your work.
In order to ensure feedback for each writer, this class is limited to seven participants.
